Self archiving & open access

self archiving

Creator’s Original Content (preprint): Creators may share the pre-review version of their content as submitted to the journal (preprint). If accepted, we recommend that a link is made available to the final published version of the paper on the publisher website, e.g.’This is the original version of content which has been published in its definitive form in the Journal of Customer Behaviour. [Full citation to article including doi link, https://doi.org/{nnnn}]

Creator’s Accepted Content (postprint): This is the version of the content accepted by the Curators, but prior to the production process (pre- copyediting, formatting, citation linking, etc.). Creators may make the abstract and citation details of their content freely available, preferably with a link to the definitive published version on the publisher website.

Creators may self-archive the postprint version of their content in their institutional or subject repository, or to a scholarly collaboration network such as ResearchGate, subject to an embargo of 18 months from date of publication. The postprint may not be posted online for commercial resale, and must not be made available for systematic distribution by any third party. A link must be made available to the final published version of the paper on the publisher website, e.g. ‘This is the post-review version of content which has been published in its definitive form in the Journal of Customer Behaviour. [Full citation to article including doi link, https://doi.org/{nnnn}]’

When a postprint is deposited, the creator may do this under the original copyright line, or deposit the postprint under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial licence, e.g. Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial 4.0 (CC BY-NC). https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/ or Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No-Derivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/

Version of Record: This is the final PDF version of the content as published. You may share this version in the following ways, provided that any such re-use is provided at no charge, and restricted to non-commercial and no derivative uses:

  • on an individual basis with research colleagues;
  • in relation to your own teaching, provided that any electronic access is on a restricted basis within your own faculty;
  • in your dissertation or thesis;
  • in other content created by you, at any time after the content is published in the journal.

For any other use, please contact the publisher. Please note, you may not post the Version of Record PDF on any website or repository without permission from the Publisher.

Open Access

On acceptance of a paper, Westburn Publishers will permit creators to select to participate in our Open Access initiative. Westburn Publishers will permit creators to make their published content freely available on an ‘Open Access’ basis on payment of a one-off fee of £1500 (plus VAT where applicable). If the creator is a member of an institution with a subscription to the journal, this fee will be reduced to £1000 (plus VAT where applicable). This fee is payable on acceptance of the content.

This means that in addition to the article being posted online for free access through Westburn Publishers’ authorised gateways, creators will be permitted to post the final published PDF version of their content on any website, institutional repository or free public server.

funded research

Many funders have policies on the publication of funded research. If you are a recipient of research funding please do check your funder’s policies prior to submission. Whilst we will use reasonable endeavours to assist Creators, the Creator is responsible for meeting any such requirements.
